How to Find Perfect Sensitivity in Valorant (2026 Method)
Introduction
You miss one easy shot. You open settings. You change your sensitivity. You miss again.
Welcome to the Cycle of Inconsistency.
Changing your sensitivity every time you die is the #1 reason players stay hard-stuck in Silver and Gold. Your muscle memory never gets a chance to solidify.
In this guide, we will use the PSA Method (Perfect Sensitivity Approximation)—a mathematical approach used by Aim Coaches to find the sensitivity that is biologically natural for your hand.

The Science of Aim: Wrist vs. Arm
Before finding your number, you must understand your physiology.
The Anchor Point
Where does your arm rest?
- Wrist Aiming: Your palm/wrist rests on the pad. You pivot from the wrist. Requires High Sens.
- Arm Aiming: Your forearm/elbow rests on the pad or table edge. You pivot from the elbow. Requires Low Sens.
The 2026 Meta:
Most modern pros utilize Hybrid Aiming. They use their arm for large turns (clearing corners) and their wrist for micro-adjustments (locking onto a head).
- Requirement: You need a large mousepad (45cm x 40cm minimum).
- Advantage: Best of both worlds. Stability + Precision.
The 180-Degree Safety Test
Before doing the math, we need a “Baseline.”
Valorant is a tactical shooter, but you still need to be able to turn around if someone shoots you from behind.
The Test:
- Go to the Practice Range.
- Place your mouse in the middle of your mousepad.
- Swipe your mouse all the way to the right edge of the pad.
- Result: Your character should turn exactly 180 degrees (look directly behind you).
Adjusting:
- If you spun 360 degrees (a full circle), your sens is TOO HIGH.
- If you only turned 90 degrees, your sens is TOO LOW.
- Adjust your in-game sens until one full swipe = 180 degrees.
This is your Base Sensitivity. Note it down. (e.g., 0.35 @ 800 DPI).
Check your eDPI: Plug this base number into our eDPI Calculator to see where you start.
The PSA Method (Step-by-Step)
Now we refine that baseline using the PSA method. This process takes 10-15 minutes but solves your problem forever.
Step 1: Establish the Bracket
Take your Base Sensitivity (let’s say 0.35).
- High Limit: Base x 1.5 = 0.525
- Low Limit: Base x 0.5 = 0.175
Step 2: The Tracking Test
Go to the Range. Select “Practice.” strafe left and right while trying to keep your crosshair perfectly on the bot’s head.
- Test High (0.525): Does it feel jittery? uncontrolled?
- Test Low (0.175): Does it feel sluggish? Like swimming in mud?
Step 3: Iterate
Pick the one that felt slightly better (even if both felt bad).
- If Low felt better, calculate the average of (Base + Low).
- If High felt better, calculate the average of (Base + High).
Repeat this process 3 times. You will quickly narrow down to a number where your tracking feels smooth and effortless.
Why this works: It removes “feeling” and relies on visual results. Your brain naturally prefers the sensitivity that allows for the smoothest tracking.
Signs Your Sensitivity is Wrong
Struggling in Ranked? Your sensitivity might be fighting you.
Signs it is Too HIGH:
- The “Jitters”: When holding an angle, your crosshair shakes slightly.
- Overshooting: You flick to an enemy, but your crosshair goes past their head, and you have to correct back.
- Inconsistency: You drop 30 kills one game and 5 kills the next.
Signs it is Too LOW:
- The “Mud” Factor: You see an enemy on the flank, but you physically can’t turn fast enough to shoot them.
- Undershooting: You flick, but your crosshair stops short of the head.
- Fatigue: Your arm hurts after 2 games because you are wrestling with the mouse.
Hardware Factors (Mousepad & Sensor)
Sometimes, it’s not the math. It’s the gear.
1. The Glass Mousepad Trap
Glass pads (Superglide, SkyPAD) are trendy in 2026.
- The Issue: Zero friction.
- The Adjustment: If you switch to Glass, you MUST lower your sensitivity by 10-15%. You lose the “stopping power” of cloth, so you need lower sens to manually stop the mouse.
2. Raw Input Buffer
Always turn ON “Raw Input Buffer” in Valorant settings if you have a mouse with >1000Hz Polling Rate (e.g. Razer 8K).
If you leave it off, your high-tech mouse will send too much data, causing stuttering.
3. Mouse Weight
Lighter mice (Superlight 2, beastX) allow for quicker micro-adjustments.
Heavier mice (G502) provide stability but cause fatigue.
- Trend: lighter is generally better for low sens players (forces less fatigue).
Consistency Drills
Once you find your Perfect Sensitivity using the PSA method: DO NOT CHANGE IT.
Even if you have a bad game. Even if you miss 10 shots in a row.
The “2-Week Rule”:
It takes approximately 2 weeks (or 40 hours) of gameplay to fully rewrite your muscle memory for a new sensitivity.
- Day 1-3: You will play worse. This is the “Valley of Despair.”
- Day 4-7: You will start hitting shots you missed before.
- Day 14: You won’t even think about your aim anymore.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I just copy a pro player’s sensitivity?
A: You can, but it is not recommended. TenZ uses 0.3 @ 800 DPI, but he also has a specific desk height, arm length, and grip style. Use our Pro Settings List for reference, but use the PSA method to find your version of it.
Q: Should I use Mouse Acceleration?
A: NO. Absolutely not. Ensure “Enhance Pointer Precision” is OFF in Windows. Mouse acceleration makes your cursor move different distances depending on speed, making muscle memory impossible to build.
Q: Is 0.5 sensitivity too high?
A: It depends on your DPI.
- at 400 DPI: 0.5 is slow (200 eDPI).
- at 800 DPI: 0.5 is high (400 eDPI).
- at 1600 DPI: 0.5 is extreme (800 eDPI).
Check your eDPI to know for sure.
Q: How often should I clean my mousepad?
A: Every 1-2 months. A dirty mousepad has “slow spots” (muddy areas with oil/dirt) that ruin your consistency. Wash it with warm water and mild dish soap.
